EPBS at the European Parliament on International Biomedical Science Day

On International Biomedical Science Day, the European Association of Biomedical Scientists (EPBS) marked the occasion at the European Parliament in Brussels under the theme “Promoting Sustainable Clinical Diagnostics for Resilient European Health.”
The programme opened with a welcome from Dr. Peter Agius, MEP, followed by remarks from EPBS President Fernando Mendes and Vice President Stephanie Meli, highlighting the vital role of biomedical scientists in European healthcare.
A key focus was sustainability in clinical diagnostics. Contributions from Hayley Foy-Stones, Katja Wienmann Bramm and Neven Sucic emphasised how biomedical scientists drive greener and more resilient healthcare through quality, innovation, and responsible resource use, alongside the need for stronger EU support.

The event celebrated the essential contribution of biomedical laboratory scientists across Europe and their role in ensuring accurate diagnostics and sustainable healthcare systems.
